“BORN ON THE 10th OF JULY” Gig review

THIS SATURDAY!

You asked for it, we deliver – DELIVERED -

Well, we  pretended rather well!

band 2010

Huh, Aging pretendy Rock Gods?????

The aging pretendy Rock Gods were back!

CLEAVAGEDOWNUNDER Rocked the house!

AT A GROUSE NEW VENUE…..

The Alma Sports Club!

**

Yes, Sid & Palle from Retro Homewares,  convinced Alison the manager that we were worthy of a gig at the venue.  So after promotion on JOY -FM  (Click here for the interview on our Facebook fanpage) Southern FM Smerls Morning show (Thanks for that plug mate) and a facebook campaign, we were ready to give it a go.

So Captain and Mike Stand Michaelson, spent all Friday “bumping in” overcoming a number of technical hitches (which was why we bumped in ALL *#^+ing day!)  and Friday to a a very small but receptive regular crowd, we rehearsed at the new venue on a different stage.

websie bump 1reh 393

The verdict:   WE ROCKED:

We were ready for Saturday.

But what of the actual gig?  Could the following happen:

  • Would Mike Stand remember everything?

  • Would Captain bring the right tights for his outfit this time?

  • Was there a spare copy of “Back to the 80s” by Aqua anywhere?

  • Would the band make it to the stage from the Green Squash room in time to the music?

  • Would Jumping High Jack make it back to help from the snow fields? (Or change his stage name to “Dicky Knee”!)

  • Would our cameraman (Jhiz Canon) make it to the show?

8.30 on Saturday night and the answer to the questions was an astounding  YES!

Over 170 people rocked, partied, and were merry to the mimesational antics of the fantastic ‘Cleavagedownunder”  Hey, we even sold merchandise and entertained the crowd!

Even our one early “heckler” sobered up saw reason and was allowed back in to enjoy the show.  We even have hecklers now.  We are so famous!  Like a real comedy act sort of!

Photos to follow but here are a few back stage (well- Squash Court)  antics!

It was fantastic. I haven’t laughed so much in ages, my cheeks were hurting. Very entertaining and a real fun family affair too. It was great how they encouraged all the kids to sit at the front and even include their own children in the band. The compere – Terry Towelling, was very astute and full of confidence. Well done!!! I will definitely be recommending Cleavage DownUnder for our Social Club events.

One of the funniest gigs I have been to for ages. The band enjoy themselves to the max, and its hard to pick a favourite, but Freddie’s rendition of “Turning Japanese” was a killer ! haven’t laughed so much for ages and that has to be a good thing yeh ? Fun watching Kerrie weave her magic with the 80′s hairstyles, and got high on the hairspray fumes LOL! So anyone after a night of fun, where you will be up on your feet and singing along to 80′s hits, with one of the friendliest lot of “Pretendy Rock Gods” I have ever met, then get yourself along to the next CDU gig !!!
You will not be disappointed !
