As of next weekend, we will re-start the song & artist reviews.  Keep the suggestions coming in.  “Sweet” the band has been one suggested by Mitch the Pirate, “I wanna be a life guard” by Daniel O of Brighton, to name a few.  Again, leave a song in the reply bit at the bottom for consideration.

Possiblity of another gig in late Feb-early March.  If ANYONE can suggest a venue locally in Bayside, let us know as we need a PR filmed event for more publicity photos!  Mind you we are always open for real event offers, so for your next party consider us, or us and a DJ to make those hits “come alive”!

Click HERE if you are on facebok and become a fan of Cleavagedownunder on Facebook!

However we have mastered google ad’s and at the moment have made 87c so we, as a band are now  well on our way to making 10′s of dollars.  Click on an ad below, (The vine music downloads if it is there is not too bad for music info) and all good things will come to us!

PART 1:

Firstly, the “new” You Tube clips:

Here is the famous introductions of the band.   Thanks to our “children of the corn” Archie and Leo B for the footage. Here is the first downloaded FULL mimesational cover of  Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls, led by Freddie Uranus and FBG danced by Betty Boobalicious. Now for a late addition: Nutbush city limits: Betty Boobalicious and Roger Roger on the rockin recorder.

PART 2 – TRIVIA QUESTIONS:

TRIVIA QUESTIONS for this week: After a good response to last weeks question What is track 1, Side two on the compliation: 1983 Summer Breaks? Clue was something to do with vowels: ANSWER (AE) IOU by Freez (Frankie, Adel Jenny and even Foxy got that one – well done!) We had a VERY POOR Facebook response to this question: New Trivia Question: What is song 9 side 1 artist & title on “1981 over the top” CLUE: Something to do with Degrees! Lets see just how retro you are.

So a few more 80′s questions:  And we are looking to answers to all of these questions: For those with the name of “Carts” or  other “special needs” people, click on the underlined title for the Youtube clue! :

AND from the 70′s

PLEASE answer on the comments section below (Yes Frankie, Em and Adel, you can answer this time!) but answering in the reply/comments section (at the VERY bottom of the page) makes us feel loved here at CDU.

Just kudos at the moment, prizes are still being negotiated! So below we have the following “Blog entry” that was not visible on Internet Explorer.  Why you may ask, but here at CDU where the closest thing to a computer we had prior to being frozen for 15 years was a Commodore 64, we cannot answer. ENJOY PLEASE rate the Youtube clips, leave comments and generally spread the word on how ace we are! Love the Captain:

The band

Yes, the sexy six, Captain Fancypants, Freddie Uranus, Betty Boobalicious, Chryssie De-Vinyl Foxy Faberge and Roger Roger stepped up from the past on New Years Eve, to set a tone for the Future.

So just how did the gig go?

Well one out of the two roadies, Tripod Rhino traveled down from his secret country location to be the sound tech. The Bowls club allowed us to practice (and practice and practice).

Rehersal, Whats up Chryssie?

So long AGAIN!

Because, as good as it sounds and looks in the Captains living room, the sound and groovy moves on the big stage were vastly different.

A few “group discussions” and the staging and sound appeared perfect. We seemed like we could rock the house.

Looks like a real band set up for a real gig

And what of Roger Roger? He failed to attend earlier rehearsals, then he appears in the last few days almost as a different person. He tells us his girlfriends Father, a nutty Professor was tinkering in the lab and accidentally shrunk him from nearly 7 foot to under 5 foot tall!

From this ……

To this……

Honey, Ive shrunk the kids………

But sporting a new set of tattoos and a new mullet, he was abused by the band, given a extra high drum seat and returned to be the worlds 3rd best drummer (as voted by “Spunky” magazine 1978).

So, the big day arrives. We find out that one of our “evil” DJ’s Greg Evans is notified of the gig by “Ange of Sandringham” by phone. The band don’t know whether this is a good thing or another cryogenic freezing coming!

W arrive at Midday. The final rehearsal. All to plan. A run thru and all seems well. For every cancellation for attendance, it is replaced by others wanting to bring more mates, so the numbers seem steady at 5!

Then the band all arrive at about 6 p.m. The Captain has all the sound checks running (Tripod Rhino was out “entertaining” still and running late”.

THEN THE UNTHINKABLE OCCURS.
“Captain, look at the Amp”

:haha: :haha: :haha:

Yes, the amp is on fire and smoking. The time is 7 p.m. on New Years Eve and we now have absolutely no sound. What is a “mimesational” band to do, Actually Mime. I think not!

Rhino finally arrives while Captain puts some good stress time into his next heart attack. Freddie Uranus goes and gets his Mums old stereo (blow that one – very old) and about 15 phone calls later, he best we can do is Chryssies Dad can arrive at about 8.30 with an amp that may work.

As this is the first Mimesational band the bowls club has seen, a few of the locals have come over to watch Captain Fancypants go into meltdown with no sound. Of these locals the greatest legend to ever grace the CDU band enters

“BARRY”

Barry tells us quietly “I sometimes “tinker” with these” and manages to put the amp apart, located the faulty switch, soldered it up and not spill his beer, all in about 15 minutes.

The evil amp

The “Evil amp”

BARRY – you are a legend. I think Rhino must have turned the on off switch up to 11. (Thankyou Spinal Tap who we are now resembling)

However, after that major issue, the room fills and after some “happy snaps” in the green room

(or as it was the Bowling Club Womens Axillary room, more the “apricot room”) CDU take the stage just before 9 p.m.

GO CDU Lets GO!

Narrator practice

With the narrator “Benny G” of Sandringham the band rocked off with Babba’s version of Waterloo. Straight into the intro’s of each member and a snippet of their own signature tune.

There were more than 3 there

The set then started in earnest. Goody Two Shoes, Fat Bottom Girls and Nutbush got the house rocking. Captains James Freud epic “Modern Girl” held meaning to some in the audience that were involved in the initial writing of the song (unknown to the Captain!)

Were the Brady bunch THIS good?

After Chryssie’s rockin “I love Rock n Roll” and a “video killed the radio star”, we finished with a Brady Bunch number that got the house moving (sad when it is the Brady Bunch that fires you up!)

The “return” of the band after the “Huttons Footy Franks” ad, put Freddie out front with Queens “Don’t stop me now” and the house exploded. ” It’s raining men”, with the boys strutting their stuff was “interesting”, but not as interesting as Freddie Uranus interpretation of “Turning Japanese”. This nearly got us a PG or even a MA rating, but all loved the performance.

Foxys’ song debut with “Touch Me” by Samantha Fox was exciting, and certainly impressed both Captain and Freddie on guitar out front!

Freddie returned with the most audience participation song of the night Robbie Williams “Let me entertain you” flowed by Chryssies “Our lips are sealed” with the band putting a “Bob Dylan” style backing to it.

Random photos until the website is fully repaired!

The band rocked out with “It’s a long way to the top” with Betty doing a special “Sharpie dance” and Freddie on the modified “CDU” Bagpipes. But this was note enough for our 5 screaming fans, so the encore had us do a special tribute to “The Swagman” restaurant (Which burnt down in the 90s – an iconic Melbourne institution with a really bad jingle) and left the stage after “So Long”, this time by Abba.

So what were the comments:

Young Charlotte L of Hampton

“Mummy, it is the music, not the people”

Cleevee Fanclub Leader (1) (Whos’ last name I muddled on the night )

“When I grow up, I’m going to be Mrs Uranus”

Cleevee Fanclub Leader (2) (Commenting on Foxy’s dress)

“When I grow up, I’m going to marry these boobs”

Indy E of Ormond (stage manager commenting on the first set)

“There were SO many mistakes”

Harry L of Hampton

“What is he doing?”

(relating to Freddies version of “Turning Japanese”) :sd:

Foxy and Fan club Pres: Enjoying a quiet moment post gig. OR making Captains dreams come true - YOU be the judge!

So other than on return to the Captains lair, our road crew (well basically Rhino tripod) opened a bottle of tequila and managed to hurt Freddie, the Captain and himself with his irresponsible pouring of shots, the night was a huge success. And Freddie may have scored an real audition, but more on this later!

Fun, fun fun till daddy took the sandman away.

The radio station DJ’s would be proud on how we carried the songs we love (and in some cases hate)

WE ROCKED and will continue to rock.. We are now classing ourselves as “very amateur” which is a far higher rating than we started the night with.

A BIG THANKYOU to the staff of Hampton Bowls Club (and Barry) who could not do enough for us.

Also thanks to Ange of Sandringham who has supplied the only photos to date. Also to all who offered or actually lent amps until ours was fixed by “Barry the Angel”

And thanks to our stalkers- er groupies out there. We could not do it without the audience support and attendance.

Thanks to Chief Cleevee – Emma

I think this explains the band!

Is this a summary of Clevagedownunder
