As 2010 rolls into full swing, and our private gigs are now rolling in, (and YES, we really still need a hair crimper – if you got a spare one, let us know in the comments!) we here at CDU HQ thought of looking at a older song that keeps popping up on the new radar. A rock Ballad that stands the test of time. Re-sung, re-released and re-hashed. A “Gold FM” sort of track!

the 60s, 70′s and Crowded house – 3KZ (Now Gold FM)
A band that has had a number of band changes but keeps on keeping on like a good tin of British paint (thanks Rolf)

And while you were probably guessing “Am I ever going to see your face again” by the Angels – sorry you were wrong.
I am being more “hair bands” of the 70s/80s;
Yes, none other than….
Journey’s
Dont Stop Believing (believin’)
But who are Journey, is it a song that Dad would play on a long car trip to Ocean Grove, a hair metal band, or more ” isnt that the song that Family Guy keeps making fun of”?
From Wikipedia in brief Summary:
Journey is an American rock band formed in 1973 in San Francisco, California, U.S.A with former members of Santana. The band has gone through several phases, but its strongest commercial success came in the late 1970s to the early 1980s.

Yes, Journeys “journey” started in the very early 70′s but until we researched this, has some fantastic members from otehr great bands, and some who went on to fame also. Santana, Steve Perry etc.
But 1981 was the power year for them. The album Escape, got them the hit song “Don’t Stop believin” which as of 2009/2010 has had a re-resurgence of fame. Here are my two favorites
This was recorded on December 9, 2009 at Bloomingdale Senior High School in Valrico, Florida GREAT effort!
And who said lip dub /lip sync is dead! They rock and so do we! They are also truly mimesational!
And now for the one that gets stuck in your head. Here is the “GLEE” version” ON Youtube (before they remove it again!)
Yep removed again – you can hear it…..er, where Mr Youtube and Record producers, where can we see it again???????????
Yes, Glee; another lot that mimesationally perform. Granted they record it at a studio, but none the less they mime!
Or from the mighty “Axis of Awesome” the 4 Chord song that merges “Dont stop believin’,” into many songs!”

Webpage for Axis:
So what of Journey now. They continue to form, re-form and tour: Steve Perry sang “Oh Sherrie ” on my “Hits huge” LP in the 80s,(may be worth a review that one!)
But Journeys continued “Journey” somewhat slowed:
Journeys follow ups of “Long way to the hairdresser”, “Dont stop till you get on Family Guy”, and the doomed for failure, “On and On and on and on and on” (subject of copyright by Abba) all failed to chart, and Journey ended up like a struck Princes hwy Kangaroo, on the Kenworth bullbar, of ‘Cleavagedownunder” rock and roll.

Thanks to all the fanclubs and Wikipedia for the photos, info and links!
(And to Journey – you really do rock!)
So, should CDU mimesationaly perform this, let us know!
The words:
Just a small town girl, livin’ in a lonley world
She took the midnight train goin anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in South Detroit
He took the midnigh traing goin’ anywhere
A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on
Strangers waiting, up on down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night
Working hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin’ anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on
Don’t stop belivin’
Hold on to the feelin’
Streetlights people
Don’t stop belivin’
Hold on to the feelin’
Streetlight people
